And come to leave the routine road | B |
And look for what had made me stall | A |
There sure enough was an apple tree | C |
That had eased itself of its summer load | B |
And of all but its trivial foliage free | C |
Now breathed as light as a lady's fan | D |
For there had been an apple fall | A |
As complete as the apple had given man | D |
The ground was one circle of solid red | E |
- | |
May something go always unharvested | E |
May much stay out of our stated plan | D |
Apples or something forgotten and left | E |
So smelling their sweetness would be no theft | E |
