They throw a forest down less cut than broken | B |
They plant dead trees for living and the dead | C |
They string together with a living thread | C |
They string an instrument against the sky | A |
Wherein words whether beaten out or spoken | B |
Will run as hushed as when they were a thought | D |
But in no hush they string it they go past | E |
With shouts afar to pull the cable taught | D |
To hold it hard until they make it fast | E |
To ease away they have it With a laugh | F |
An oath of towns that set the wild at naught | D |
They bring the telephone and telegraph | F |
