The Demiurge's Laugh Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDE FGHGII JKLMNN

It was far in the sameness of the woodA
I was running with joy on the Demon's trailB
Though I knew what I hunted was no true godC
It was just as the light was beginning to failB
That I suddenly head all I needed to hearD
It has lasted me many and many a yearE
-
The sound was behind me instead of beforeF
A sleepy sound but mocking halfG
As one who utterly couldn't careH
The Demon arose from his wallow to laughG
Brushing the dirt from his eye as he wentI
And well I knew what the Demon meantI
-
I shall not forget how his laugh rang outJ
I felt as a fool to have been so caughtK
And checked my steps to make pretenseL
I was something among the leaves I soughtM
Though doubtful whether he stayed to seeN
Thereafter I sat me against a treeN
