Once By The Pacific Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEFGGHH

The shattered water made a misty dinA
Great waves looked over others coming inA
And thought of doing something to the shoreB
That water never did to land beforeB
The clouds were low and hairy in the skiesC
Like locks blown forward in the gleam of eyesC
You could not tell and yet it looked as ifD
The shore was lucky in being backed by cliffD
The cliff in being backed by continentE
It looked as if a night of dark intentF
Was coming and not only a night an ageG
Someone had better be prepared for rageG
There would be more than ocean water brokenH
Before God's last Put out the light was spokenH
