In A Vale Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAAB CDCCD EFEEF GHGGH IJIIJ

When I was young we dwelt in a valeA
By a misty fen that rang all nightB
And thus it was the maidens paleA
I knew so well whose garments trailA
Across the reeds to a window lightB
-
The fen had every kind of bloomC
And for every kind there was a faceD
And a voice that has sounded in my roomC
Across the sill from the outer gloomC
Each came singly unto her placeD
-
But all came every night with the mistE
And often they brought so much to sayF
Of things of moment to which they wistE
One so lonely was fain to listE
That the stars were almost faded awayF
-
Before the last went heavy with dewG
Back to the place from which she cameH
Where the bird was before it flewG
Where the flower was before it grewG
Where bird and flower were one and the sameH
-
And thus it is I know so wellI
Why the flower has odor the bird has songJ
You have only to ask me and I can tellI
No not vainly there did I dwellI
Nor vainly listen all the night longJ
