God's Garden Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABAACADEFAG HIBIJAJAKAJA HJHJJBJBLAAA

God made a beatous gardenA
With lovely flowers strownA
But one straight narrow pathwayB
That was not overgrownA
And to this beauteous gardenA
He brought mankind to liveC
And said 'To you my childrenA
These lovely flowers I giveD
Prune ye my vines and fig treesE
With care my flowerets tendF
But keep the pathway openA
Your home is at the end 'G
-
Then came another masterH
Who did not love mankindI
And planted on the pathwayB
Gold flowers for them to findI
And mankind saw the bright flowersJ
That glitt'ring in the sunA
Quite hid the thorns of av'riceJ
That poison blood and boneA
And far off many wanderedK
And when life's night came onA
They still were seeking gold flowersJ
Lost helpless and aloneA
-
-
O cease to heed the glamourH
That blinds your foolish eyesJ
Look upward to the glitterH
Of stars in God's clear skiesJ
Their ways are pure and harmlessJ
And will not lead astrayB
Bid aid your erring footstepsJ
To keep the narrow wayB
And when the sun shines brightlyL
Tend flowers that God has givenA
And keep the pathway openA
That leads you on to heavenA
