Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEDEDDDHard have you won her and must hold as fast | A |
She is Love's reveller those tawny eyes | B |
Are up and down still in warm passion cast | A |
And woe betide the soul whom they surprise | B |
Yet is she yours you deem not for a while | C |
But have you felt the fiery stress of her | D |
It is a woman's yet a serpent's smile | C |
A Cleopatra yields her worshipper | D |
The cruel sweetness of her beauty lurks | E |
In all her lovers' ruin none may dare | D |
To toy with her but love like poison works | E |
To madness or the sorrow of despair | D |
And you the Antony of her desire | D |
Her love is still as a consuming fire | D |
