Love In Hades. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDBEBFBGBGHGHG BEBFBDBD| I saw Love pass with Charon down | A |
| The pale infernal tide | B |
| To visit in the starless town | A |
| All who for him had died | B |
| The gay God and the old Ghost came | C |
| Slow to that sleepy shore | D |
| And a dead passion burned like flame | C |
| Before each true love's door | D |
| Into this place and that he stept | B |
| The eyes still held their tears | E |
| Though some had their strange sorrow kept | B |
| More than ten thousand years | F |
| He saw the old and young who went | B |
| Devoid of life yet who | G |
| Though all their joys on earth were spent | B |
| Were to their dream loves true | G |
| He saw all who had worshipped him | H |
| Before thought's light withdrew | G |
| Until the ages seemed to swim | H |
| Round him there dying too | G |
| And he could feel his faint heart beat | B |
| A ghostly tune with theirs | E |
| As he too might cease to compete | B |
| With the decaying years | F |
| Ay though a God he went aghast | B |
| From the mysterious shore | D |
| And Charon smiled when he at last | B |
| Touched time with him once more | D |
