Earth Rune. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEFEFGGHIHIJJ| I heard the Earth within me sing | A |
| As if it were a tranc d thing | A |
| Or as if under thought's control | B |
| All things were chaunting in my soul | B |
| I was the centre of the sphere | C |
| And made the imaginary year | C |
| Whose seasons four were each a mood | D |
| Like God's within His solitude | D |
| The unborn may dream of our life | E |
| As we still dream of death until | F |
| Its shadow falls upon our strife | E |
| As the birth light on the unborn will | F |
| When they emerge as from a tomb | G |
| Within the antenatal gloom | G |
| Ah they may guess at what we know | H |
| May picture what their lives will be | I |
| When they into time's essence flow | H |
| And take on thought's reality | I |
| As we may deem of death who pass | J |
| Like shadows o'er the shining grass | J |
