By The Sea. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDCDEBBEFGFGHIIH BFBFThe heat is on the sea and Noon | A |
Has hushed the sounds upon the shore | B |
There is a silence evermore | B |
That with the heart is so in tune | A |
That ear and eye their senses steep | C |
As if within a dreamy dew | D |
As charmed as when the bells of Sleep | C |
To Night's church Sweet are calling you | D |
A sail far off hushed in the light | E |
Comes into view and fades as 'twere | B |
Something that rose from slumber there | B |
E'en as a blind man musing might | E |
Image a bird upon the wing | F |
The picture seems to us the same | G |
The whole bright noon around the thing | F |
As if it with the silence came | G |
And still we lie in the warm grass | H |
Our senses on the shining sea | I |
While thought like a sweet lethargy | I |
Counts not the moments as they pass | H |
As time itself had ceased to stir | B |
The glamour here on everything | F |
Grows one with us as all things were | B |
Where now no winds are wandering | F |
