Before Actium. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFCGCGCHCC

Life is up and takes the morningA
Why should love still lie abedB
Lo the charms of slumber scorningA
Tramps the troop that must be ledB
Thousands come from hill and valleyC
Loud the town with clamour fillD
Why must then their leader dallyC
Couched with Cleopatra stillD
Life's awake let Duty wakenE
Love's a snare at such a timeF
When Mars' harness should be takenE
And the hearts of heroes chimeF
Let the leader leave the ladyC
Cupid is not lord of theseG
Now the War god ranks them readyC
To post over land and seasG
Done with power's imperial pityC
Oh the hearts to day must dieH
Romans in an alien cityC
Pledged to death for AntonyC
