Where Are The Joys I Have Met Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDE FGHG DIJI KLML

WHERE are the joys I have met in the morningA
That danc'd to the lark's early songB
Where is the peace that awaited my wand'ringA
At evening the wild woods amongC
-
-
No more a winding the course of yon riverD
And marking sweet flowerets so fairE
No more I trace the light footsteps of PleasureD
But Sorrow and sad sighing CareE
-
-
Is it that Summer's forsaken our valleysF
And grim surly Winter is nearG
No no the bees humming round the gay rosesH
Proclaim it the pride of the yearG
-
-
Fain would I hide what I fear to discoverD
Yet long long too well have I knownI
All that has caused this wreck in my bosomJ
Is Jenny fair Jenny aloneI
-
-
Time cannot aid me my griefs are immortalK
Nor Hope dare a comfort bestowL
Come then enamour'd and fond of my anguishM
Enjoyment I'll seek in my woeL
