A mixtie maxtie motley squadB
And mony a guilt bespotted ladC
Black gowns of each denominationD
And thieves of every rank and stationD
From him that wears the star and garterE
To him that wintles in a halterE
Asham'd himsel' to see the wretchesF
He mutters glowrin' at the bitchesF
By G d I'll not be seen behint themG
Nor 'mang the sp'ritual core present themG
Without at least ae honest manH
To grace this d d infernal clanH
By Adamhill a glance he threwI
L d G d quoth he I have it nowJ
There's just the man I want i' faithK
And quickly stoppit Rankine's breathL
