The moor was driegh and Meg was skieghE
Her favour Duncan could na winC
For wi' the roke she wad him knockF
And ay she shook the temper pinC

A burn was clear a glen was greenH
Upon the banks they eas'd their shanksI
And ay she set the wheel betweenH
But Duncan swore a haly aithJ
That Meg should be a bride the mornK
Then Meg took up her spinnin' graithJ
And flang them a' out o'er the burnL

And we will live like king and queenH
Sae blythe and merry we will beN
When ye set by the wheel at e'enO
A man may drink and no be drunkP
