The Thames flows proudly to the seaB
Where royal cities stately standC
But sweeter flows the Nith to meB
Where Comyns ance had high commandC
When shall I see that honour'd landC
That winding stream I love so dearD
Must wayward Fortune's adverse handC
For ever ever keep me hereE

How lovely Nith thy fruitful valesF
Where spreading hawthorns gaily bloomG
How sweetly wind thy sloping dalesF
Where lambkins wanton thro' the broomG
Tho' wandering now must be my doomG
Far from thy bonnie banks and braesF
May there my latest hours consumeG
Amang the friends of early daysF
