Sonnet On The Author's Birthday Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA ACCA DEFD AA

SING on sweet thrush upon the leafless boughA
Sing on sweet bird I listen to thy strainB
See aged Winter 'mid his surly reignB
At thy blythe carol clears his furrowed browA
-
-
So in lone Poverty's dominion drearA
Sits meek Content with light unanxious heartC
Welcomes the rapid moments bids them partC
Nor asks if they bring ought to hope or fearA
-
-
I thank thee Author of this opening dayD
Thou whose bright sun now gilds yon orient skiesE
Riches denied thy boon was purer joysF
What wealth could never give nor take awayD
-
-
Yet come thou child of poverty and careA
The mite high heav'n bestow'd that mite with thee I'll shareA
