Rhyme Scheme: ABABC DDEFFGGE HIJIK LLMNOPKM

MARK yonder pomp of costly fashionA
Round the wealthy titled brideB
But when compar'd with real passionA
Poor is all that princely prideB
Mark yonder c four lines repeatedC
-
-
What are the showy treasuresD
What are the noisy pleasuresD
The gay gaudy glare of vanity and artE
The polish'd jewels' blazeF
May draw the wond'ring gazeF
And courtly grandeur brightG
The fancy may delightG
But never never can come near the heartE
-
-
But did you see my dearest ChlorisH
In simplicity's arrayI
Lovely as yonder sweet opening flower isJ
Shrinking from the gaze of dayI
But did you see cK
-
-
O then the heart alarmingL
And all resistless charmingL
In Love's delightful fetters she chains the willing soulM
Ambition would disownN
The world's imperial crownO
Ev'n Avarice would denyP
His worshipp'd deityK
And feel thro' every vein Love's raptures rollM
