Song-the Captive Ribband Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FGHG IJKJ

DEAR Myra the captive ribband's mineA
'Twas all my faithful love could gainB
And would you ask me to resignA
The sole reward that crowns my painB
-
-
Go bid the hero who has runC
Thro' fields of death to gather fameD
Go bid him lay his laurels downE
And all his well earn'd praise disclaimD
-
-
The ribband shall its freedom loseF
Lose all the bliss it had with youG
And share the fate I would imposeH
On thee wert thou my captive tooG
-
-
It shall upon my bosom liveI
Or clasp me in a close embraceJ
And at its fortune if you grieveK
Retrieve its doom and take its placeJ
