Song-on A Bank Of Flowers Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAAAAAAAA ABABAAAAA CDCDEEAAE FGFGAAAAA

ON a bank of flowers in a summer dayA
For summer lightly drestA
The youthful blooming Nelly layA
With love and sleep opprestA
When Willie wand'ring thro' the woodA
Who for her favour oft had suedA
He gaz'd he wish'dA
He fear'd he blush'dA
And trembled where he stoodA
-
-
Her clos d eyes like weapons sheath'dA
Were seal'd in soft reposeB
Her lip still as she fragrant breath'dA
It richer dyed the roseB
The springing lilies sweetly prestA
Wild wanton kissed her rival breastA
He gaz'd he wish'dA
He mear'd he blush'dA
His bosom ill at restA
-
-
Her robes light waving in the breezeC
Her tender limbs embraceD
Her lovely form her native easeC
All harmony and graceD
Tumultuous tides his pulses rollE
A faltering ardent kiss he stoleE
He gaz'd he wish'dA
He fear'd he blush'dA
And sigh'd his very soulE
-
-
As flies the partridge from the brakeF
On fear inspired wingsG
So Nelly starting half awakeF
Away affrighted springsG
But Willie follow'd as he shouldA
He overtook her in the woodA
He vow'd he pray'dA
He found the maidA
Forgiving all and goodA
