Song-composed In August Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDBEB FAAAAGHG IBJBKLML NOPOKBQB RSTSABSB

NOW westlin winds and slaught'ring gunsA
Bring Autumn's pleasant weatherB
The moorcock springs on whirring wingsC
Amang the blooming heatherB
Now waving grain wide o'er the plainD
Delights the weary farmerB
And the moon shines bright when I rove at nightE
To muse upon my charmerB
-
-
The partridge loves the fruitful fellsF
The plover loves the mountainsA
The woodcock haunts the lonely dellsA
The soaring hern the fountainsA
Thro' lofty groves the cushat rovesA
The path of man to shun itG
The hazel bush o'erhangs the thrushH
The spreading thorn the linnetG
-
-
Thus ev'ry kind their pleasure findI
The savage and the tenderB
Some social join and leagues combineJ
Some solitary wanderB
Avaunt away the cruel swayK
Tyrannic man's dominionL
The sportsman's joy the murd'ring cryM
The flutt'ring gory pinionL
-
-
But Peggy dear the ev'ning's clearN
Thick flies the skimming swallowO
The sky is blue the fields in viewP
All fading green and yellowO
Come let us stray our gladsome wayK
And view the charms of NatureB
The rustling corn the fruited thornQ
And ev'ry happy creatureB
-
-
We'll gently walk and sweetly talkR
Till the silent moon shine clearlyS
I'll grasp thy waist and fondly prestT
Swear how I love thee dearlyS
Not vernal show'rs to budding flow'rsA
Not Autumn to the farmerB
So dear can be as thou to meS
My fair my lovely charmerB
