Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEFG HIJK LMLN OPOQ RSTS

O THOU dread Power who reign'st aboveA
I know thou wilt me hearB
When for this scene of peace and loveA
I make this prayer sincereC
-
-
The hoary Sire the mortal strokeD
Long long be pleas'd to spareE
To bless this little filial flockF
And show what good men areG
-
-
She who her lovely offspring eyesH
With tender hopes and fearsI
O bless her with a mother's joysJ
But spare a mother's tearsK
-
-
Their hope their stay their darling youthL
In manhood's dawning blushM
Bless him Thou God of love and truthL
Up to a parent's wishN
-
-
The beauteous seraph sister bandO
With earnest tears I prayP
Thou know'st the snares on ev'ry handO
Guide Thou their steps alwayQ
-
-
When soon or late they reach that coastR
O'er Life's rough ocean drivenS
May they rejoice no wand'rer lostT
A family in HeavenS
