Tune My love is lost to meA

I-

O were I on Parnassus' hillB
Or had of Helicon my fillB
That I might catch poetic skillB
To sing how dear I love theeA
But Nith maun be my Muse's wellC
My Muse maun be thy bonnie sel'C
On Corsincon I'll glow'r and spellC
And write how dear I love theeA
-
II-
-
Then come sweet Muse inspire my layC
For a' the lee lang simmer's dayC
I coudna sing I coudna sayC
How much how dear I love theeA
I see thee dancing o'er the greenD
Thy waist sae jimp thy limbs sae cleanD
Thy tempting lips thy roguish eenD
By heaven and earth I love theeA
-
III-
-
By night by day a field at hameA
The thoughts o' thee my breast inflameA
And aye I muse and sing thy nameA
I only live to love theeA
Tho' I were doom'd to wander onD
Beyond the sea beyond the sunD
Till my last weary sand was runD
Till then and then I love theeA
