Now Spring Has Clad The Grove In Green Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDED FGHGIJIJ KLKLKMKM NJNJOPOP LQLQPRPR

Now spring has clad the grove in greenA
And strew'd the lea wi' flowersB
The furrow'd waving corn is seenA
Rejoice in fostering showersB
While ilka thing in nature joinC
Their sorrows to foregoD
O why thus all alone are mineE
The weary steps of woeD
-
The trout in yonder wimpling burnF
That glides a silver dartG
And safe beneath the shady thornH
Defies the angler's artG
My life was ance that careless streamI
That wanton trout was IJ
But love wi' unrelenting beamI
Has scorch'd my fountains dryJ
-
The little flow'ret's peaceful lotK
In yonder cliff that growsL
Which save the linnet's flight I wotK
Nae ruder visit knowsL
Was mine till love has o'er me pastK
And blighted a' my bloomM
And now beneath the with'ring blastK
My youth and joy consumeM
-
The waken'd lav'rock warbling springsN
And climbs the early skyJ
Winnowing blythe her dewy wingsN
In morning's rosy eyeJ
As little reckt I sorrow's powerO
Until the flowery snareP
O' witching love in luckless hourO
Made me the thrall o' careP
-
O had my fate been Greenland snowsL
Or Afric's burning zoneQ
Wi' man and nature leagu'd my foesL
So Peggy ne'er I'd knownQ
The wretch whase doom is hope nae mairP
What tongue his woes can tellR
Within whase bosom save despairP
Nae kinder spirits dwellR
