Mark Yonder Pomp Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBCDDEFFGGE HIJIKKLMN OL

Tune Deil tak the warsA

Mark yonder pomp of costly fashionB
Round the wealthy titled brideC
But when compar'd with real passionB
Poor is all that princely prideC
What are the showy treasuresD
What are the noisy pleasuresD
The gay gaudy glare of vanity and artE
The polish'd jewel's blazeF
May draw the wond'ring gazeF
And courtly grandeur brightG
The fancy may delightG
But never never can come near the heartE

-
But did you see my dearest ChlorisH
In simplicity's arrayI
Lovely as yonder sweet opening flower isJ
Shrinking from the gaze of dayI
O then the heart alarmingK
And all resistless charmingK
In Love's delightful fetters she chains the willing soulL
Ambition would disownM
The world's imperial crownN
Even Avarice would deny-
His worship'd deityO
And feel thro' every vein Love's raptures rollL
