I gaed a waefu' gate yestreenB
A gate I fear I'll dearlie rueC
I gat my death frae twa sweet eenB
Twa lovely een o' bonnie blueC
'Twas not her golden ringlets brightD
Her lips like roses wat wi' dewC
Her heaving bosom lily whiteD
It was her een sae bonnie blueC

She talk'd she smil'd my heart she wyl'dD
She charm'd my soul I wist na howE
And ay the stound the deadly woundD
Cam frae her een sae bonnie blueC
But spare to speak and spare to speedD
She'll aiblins listen to my vowE
Should she refuse I'll lay my deadD
To her twa een sae bonnie blueC
