Where are the joys I have met in the morningB
That danc'd to the lark's early songC
Where is the peace that awaited my wand'ringB
At evening the wild woods amongD

No more a winding the course of yon riverA
And marking sweet flow'rets so fairE
No more I trace the light footsteps of pleasureA
But sorrow and sad sighing careE

Is it that summer's forsaken our valleysF
And grim surly winter is nearG
No no the bees' humming round the gay rosesH
Proclaim it the pride of the yearG

Fain would I hide what I fear to discoverA
Yet long long too well have I knownJ
All that has caused this wreck in my bosomK
Is Jeany fair Jeany aloneJ

-
Time cannot aid me my griefs are immortalL
Nor hope dare a comfort bestowM
Come then enamour'd and fond of my anguishN
Enjoyment I'll seek in my woeM
