Address To The Tooth-ache Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAABAC DDEFGF HHHIHI GGGGGJ HHHJHK HHHAHL

My curse upon your venom'd stangA
That shoots my tortur'd gums alangA
And thro' my lugs gies mony a twangA
Wi' gnawing vengeanceB
Tearing my nerves wi' bitter pangA
Like racking enginesC
-
When fevers burn or ague freezesD
Rheumatics gnaw or cholic squeezesD
Our neighbors' sympathy may ease usE
Wi' pitying moanF
But thee thou hell o' a' diseasesG
They mock our groanF
-
Adown my beard the slavers trickleH
I throw the wee stools o'er the mickleH
As round the fire the giglets keckleH
To see me loupI
While raving mad I wish a heckleH
Were in their doupI
-
O' a' the num'rous human doolsG
Ill har'sts daft bargains cutty stoolsG
Or worthy friends rak'd i' the moolsG
Sad sight to seeG
The tricks o' knaves or fash o' foolsG
Thou bear'st the greeJ
-
Where'er that place be priests ca' hellH
Whence a' the tones o' mis'ry yellH
And rank d plagues their numbers tellH
In dreadfu' rawJ
Thou Tooth ache surely bear'st the bellH
Amang them a'K
-
O thou grim mischief making chielH
That gars the notes of discord squeelH
Till daft mankiud aft dance a reelH
In gore a shoe thickA
Gie a' the foes o' Scotland's wealH
A towmond's Tooth acheL
