A Mother's Lament For The Death Of Her Son. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDED FGFHIJIJ

Fate gave the word the arrow spedA
And pierc'd my darling's heartB
And with him all the joys are fledA
Life can to me impartB
By cruel hands the sapling dropsC
In dust dishonour'd laidD
So fell the pride of all my hopesE
My age's future shadeD
-
The mother linnet in the brakeF
Bewails her ravish'd youngG
So I for my lost darling's sakeF
Lament the live day longH
Death oft I've fear'd thy fatal blowI
Now fond I bare my breastJ
O do thou kindly lay me lowI
With him I love at restJ
