Thus The Mayne Glideth Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCDEEFFGGFFHIJJKK KKAALLMM

Thus the Mayne glidethA
Where my Love abidethA
Sleep 's no softer it proceedsB
On through lawns on through meadsB
On and on whate'er befallC
Meandering and musicalD
Though the niggard pasturageE
Bears not on its shaven ledgeE
Aught but weeds and waving grassesF
To view the river as it passesF
Save here and there a scanty patchG
Of primroses too faint to catchG
A weary bee And scarce it pushesF
Its gentle way through strangling rushesF
Where the glossy kingfisherH
Flutters when noon heats are nearI
Glad the shelving banks to shunJ
Red and steaming in the sunJ
Where the shrew mouse with pale throatK
Burrows and the speckled stoatK
Where the quick sandpipers flitK
In and out the marl and gritK
That seems to breed them brown as theyA
Naught disturbs its quiet wayA
Save some lazy stork that springsL
Trailing it with legs and wingsL
Whom the shy fox from the hillM
Rouses creep he ne'er so stillM
