Prospice Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGHGHIJIJ KLKLMNON

Fear death to feel the fog in my throatA
The mist in my faceB
When the snows begin and the blasts denoteA
I am nearing the placeB
The power of the night the press of the stormC
The post of the foeD
Where he stands the Arch Fear in a visible formC
Yet the strong man must goD
For the journey is done and the summit attainedE
And the barriers fallF
Though a battle's to fight ere the guerdon be gainedE
The reward of it allF
I was ever a fighter so one fight moreG
The best and the lastH
I would hate that death bandaged my eyes and forboreG
And bade me creep pastH
No let me taste the whole of it fare like my peersI
The heroes of oldJ
Bear the brunt in a minute pay glad life's arrearsI
Of pain darkness and coldJ
For sudden the worst turns the best to the braveK
The black minute's at endL
And the elements' rage the fiend voices that raveK
Shall dwindle shall blendL
Shall change shall become first a peace out of painM
Then a light then thy breastN
O thou soul of my soul I shall clasp thee againO
And with God be the restN
