The Source Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCDEFEGFG HHIII

Water in hidden glensA
From the secret heart of the mountainsB
Where the red fox hath its densA
And the gods their crystal fountainsB
Up runnel and leaping cataractC
Boulder and ledge I climbed and trackedC
Till I came to the top of the world and the fenD
That drinks up the clouds and cisterns the rainE
And down through the floors of the deep morassF
The procreant woodland essences drainE
The thunder's home where the eagles screamG
And the centaurs passF
But where it was born I lost my streamG
-
'Twas in vain I said 'Tis here it springsH
Though no more it leaps and no more it singsH
And I thought of a poet whose songs I knewI
Of morning made and shining dewI
I remembered the mire of the marshes tooI
