The Silk-hat Soldier Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACCAA ADEAAAAA AFFAGGAA AHHABBAA AAAAIIAA

I saw him in a picture and I felt I'd like to cryA
He stood in lineB
The man for mineB
A tall silk hatted guyA
Right on the callC
Silk hat and allC
He'd hurried to the cryA
For he loves England well enough for England to dieA
-
I've seen King Harry's helmet in the Abbey hanging highA
The one he woreD
At AgincourtE
But braver to my eyeA
That city toffA
Too keen to doffA
His stove pipe bless him whyA
For he loves England well enough for England to dieA
-
And other fellows in that line had come too on the flyA
Their joys and toysF
Brave English boysF
For good and all put byA
O you brave bestG
Teach all the restG
How pure the heart and highA
When one loves England well enough for England to dieA
-
One threw his cricket bat aside one left the ink to dryA
All peace and playH
He's put awayH
And bid his love good byeA
O mother mineB
O sweetheart mineB
No man of yours am IA
If I love not England well enough for England to dieA
-
I guess it strikes a chill somewhere the bravest won't denyA
All that you loveA
Away to shoveA
And set your teeth to dieA
But better deadI
When all is saidI
Than lapped in peace to lieA
If we love not England well enough for England to dieA
