The Second Crucifixion Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DD EFEF GG HIJI AA CKBK LL MNMN OO

Loud mockers in the roaring streetA
Say Christ is crucified againB
Twice pierced His gospel bearing feetA
Twice broken His great heart in vainC
-
I hear and to myself I smileD
For Christ talks with me all the whileD
-
No angel now to roll the stoneE
From off His unawaking sleepF
In vain shall Mary watch aloneE
In vain the soldiers vigil keepF
-
Yet while they deem my Lord is deadG
My eyes are on His shining headG
-
Ah never more shall Mary hearH
That voice exceeding sweet and lowI
Within the garden calling clearJ
Her Lord is gone and she must goI
-
Yet all the while my Lord I meetA
In every London lane and streetA
-
Poor Lazarus shall wait in vainC
And Bartim us still go blindK
The healing hem shall ne'er againB
Be touch'd by suffering humankindK
-
Yet all the while I see them restL
The poor and outcast on His breastL
-
No more unto the stubborn heartM
With gentle knocking shall He pleadN
No more the mystic pity startM
For Christ twice dead is dead indeedN
-
So in the street I hear men sayO
Yet Christ is with me all the dayO
