The Heart On The Sleeve Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH IJIJKLKL MNONPLPLQQ

I wore my heart upon my sleeveA
Tis most unwise they say to doB
But then how could I but believeA
The foolish thing was safe with youB
Yet had I known 'twas safer farC
With wolves and tigers the wild seaD
Were kinder to it than you areC
Sweetheart how you must laugh at meD
-
Yet am I glad I did not knowE
That creatures of such tender bloomF
Beneath their sanctuary snowE
Were such cold ministers of doomF
For had I known as I beganG
To love you ere we flung apartH
I had not been so glad a manG
As holds his lady to his heartH
-
And am I lonely here to nightI
With empty eyes the cause is thisJ
Your face it was that gave me sightI
My heart ran over with your kissJ
Still do I think that what I laidK
Before the altar of your faceL
Flower of words that shall not fadeK
Were worthy of a moment's graceL
-
Some thoughtless lightly dropped largesseM
A touch of your immortal handN
Laid on my brow in tendernessO
Though you could never understandN
And yet with hungered lips to touchP
Your feet of pearl and in your faceL
To look a little was over muchP
In heaven is no such fair a placeL
As broken hearted at your feetQ
To lie there and to kiss them sweetQ
