The Door Ajar Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACBC CCCDCDECFGCG

My door is always left ajarA
Lest you should suddenly slip throughB
A little breathless frightened starA
Each footfall sets my heart abeatC
I always think it may be youB
Stolen in from the streetC
-
My ears are evermore attentC
Waiting in vain for one blest soundC
The little frock with lilac scentC
That used to whisper up the stairD
Then in my arms with one wild boundC
Your lips your eyes your hairD
Never the south wind through the roseE
Brushing its petals with soft handC
Made such sweet talking as your clothesF
Rustling and fragrant as you cameG
And at my aching door would standC
Then vanish into flameG
