Sore In Need Was I Of A Faithful Friend Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FGHGIG JAKALA

Sore in need was I of a faithful friendA
And it seemed to me that lifeB
Had come to its much desired endA
Just then God gave me a wifeB
-
I had seen the beauty of fairy thingsC
And seen the women walkD
I had heard the voice of the seven sinsE
And all the wonderful talkD
-
Ah the promising earth that seems so kindF
And the comrades with outstretched handG
But did you ever stand aloneH
In a black forsaken landG
Then the wonderful things that God can doI
One comes to understandG
-
How He turns the desert dust to a dreamJ
And the lonely wind to a friendA
And makes a bright beginningK
Of what had seemed the endA
'Twas in such an hour God placed in mineL
The moonbeam hand of a friendA
