Love's Arithmetic Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACCD EFGFGEE HFFHIJGGHHGKFKFL HMHHMHNOHNO H

You often ask me love how much I love youA
Bidding my fancy findB
An answer to your mindB
I say Past count as there are stars above youA
You shake your head and sayC
Many and bright are theyC
But that is not enoughD
-
Again I tryE
If all the leaves on all the treesF
Were counted overG
And all the waves on all the seasF
More times your loverG
Yea more than twice ten thousand times am IE
'Tis not enough again you make replyE
-
How many blades of grass one day I saidH
Are there from here to China how many beesF
Have gathered honey through the centuriesF
Tell me how many roses have bloomed redH
Since the first rose till this rose in your hairI
How many butterflies are born each yearJ
How many raindrops are there in a showerG
How many kisses darling in an hourG
Thereat you smiled and shook your golden headH
Ah not enough you saidH
Then said I Dear it is not in my powerG
To tell how much how many ways my loveK
Unnumbered are its ways even as all theseF
Nor any depth so deep nor height aboveK
May match therewith of any stars or seasF
I would hear more you smiledL
-
Then love I saidH
This will I do unbind me all this goldM
Too heavy for your headH
And one by one I'll count each shining threadH
And when the tale of all its wealth is toldM
As much as that you saidH
Then the full sum of all my love I'll speakN
To the last unit tell the thing you askO
Thereat the gold in gleaming torrents shedH
Fell loose adown each cheekN
Hiding you from me I began my taskO
-
'Twill last our lives you saidH
