The human heart will never changeA
The human dream will still go onB
The enchanted earth be ever strangeA
With moonlight and the morning sunC
And still the seas shall shout for joyD
And swing the stars as in a glassE
The girl be angel for the boyD
The lad be hero for the lassE
-
The fashions of our mortal brainsF
New names for dead men's thoughts shall giveG
But we find not for all our painsF
Why 'tis so wonderful to liveH
The beauty of a meadow flowerI
Shall make a mock of all our skillJ
And God upon his lonely towerI
Shall keep his secret secret stillJ
-
The old magician of the skiesK
With coloured and sweet smelling thingsL
Shall charm the sense and trance the eyesK
Still onward through a million springsL
And nothing old and nothing newM
Into the magic world be bornN
Yea nothing older than the dewM
And nothing younger than the mornN
-
Delight and Destiny and DeathO
Shall still the mortal story weaveP
Man shall not lengthen out his breathO
Nor stay when it is time to leaveP
And all in vain for him to askQ
His little meaning in the WholeR
Done well or ill his tiny taskQ
The mystic making of his soulR
-
Ah love and is it not enoughS
To have our part in this romanceT
Made of such planetary stuffS
Strange partners in the cosmic danceT
Though Life be all too swift a dreamU
And its fair rose must fade and fallV
Life has no sorrow in its schemeU
As never to have lived at allV
-
This fire that through our being runsW
When our two hearts together beatX
Is one with yonder burning sun'sW
Two atoms that in glory meetX
What unimagined loss it wereI
If that dread power in which we trustY
Had left your eyes your lips your hairZ
Nought but un animated dustY
-
Unknown the thrilling touch divineA2
That sets our magic clay aflameB2
That wrought your beauty to be mineA2
And joy enough to speak your nameB2
Thanks be to Life that did this thingC2
Unsought beloved for you and meD2
Gave us the rose and birds to singC2
The golden earth the blue robed seaD2
