A Rainy Day Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: AAABBCC DDDEEFFGGHH HIJKILLFMNNOOPQMFThe beauty of this rainy day | A |
All silver green and dripping gray | A |
Has stolen quite my heart away | A |
From all the tasks I meant to do | B |
Made me forget the resolute blue | B |
And energetic gold of things | C |
So soft a song the rain bird sings | C |
- | |
Yet am I glad to miss awhile | D |
The sun's huge domineering smile | D |
The busy spaces mile on mile | D |
Shut in behind this shimmering screen | E |
Of falling pearls and phantom green | E |
As in a cloister walled with rain | F |
Safe from intrusions voices vain | F |
And hurry of invading feet | G |
Inviolate in my retreat | G |
Myself my books my pipe my fire | H |
So runs my rainy day desire | H |
- | |
Or I old letters may con o'er | H |
And dream on faces seen no more | I |
The buried treasure of the years | J |
Too visionary now for tears | K |
Open old cupboards and explore | I |
Sometimes for an old sweetheart's sake | L |
A delicate romantic ache | L |
Sometimes a swifter pang of pain | F |
To read old tenderness again | M |
As though the ink were scarce yet dry | N |
And She still She and I still I | N |
What if I were to write as though | O |
Her letter came an hour ago | O |
An hour ago This post mark says | P |
But out upon these rainy days | Q |
Come tie the packet up again | M |
The sun is back enough of rain | F |
