A Lover's Universe Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCDDEE FGFHIIJJKK LMLMNNOOPP QEQERRCCSS

When winter comes and takes away the roseA
And all the singing of sweet birds is doneB
The warm and honeyed world lost deep in snowsA
Still independent of the summer sunB
In vain with sullen roarC
December shakes my doorC
And sleet upon the paneD
Threatens my peace in vainD
While seated by the fire upon my kneeE
My love abides with meE
-
For he who wise in time his harvest yieldsF
Reaped into barns sweet smelling and secureG
Smiles as the rain beats sternly on his fieldsF
For wealth is his no winter can make poorH
Safe all his waving goldI
Shut in against the coldI
Treasure of summer grassJ
So sit I with my lassJ
My harvest sheaves of all her garnered charmsK
Safe in my happy armsK
-
Still fragrant in the garden of her breastL
The flowers that fled with summer softly bloomM
The birds that shook with song each empty nestL
Still when she speaks fill all the listening roomM
Deep sheltered from the stormN
Within her blossoming formN
Flower breathed and singing sweetO
Is she from head to feetO
All summer in my sweetheart doth abideP
Though winter be outsideP
-
So all the various wonder of the worldQ
The wizard moon and stars the haunted seaE
In her small being mystically furledQ
She brings as in a golden cup to meE
Within no other bookR
My eyes for wisdom lookR
That have her eyes for loreC
And when the flaming doorC
Opens into the dark what shall I fearS
Adventuring with my dearS
