A Face In A Book Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABB CDCDE FGFGG HIHII

In an old book I found her faceA
Writ by a dead man long agoB
I found and then I lost the placeA
So nothing but her face I knowB
And her soft name writ fair belowB
-
Even if she lived I cannot learnC
Or but a dead man's dream she wereD
Page after yellow page I turnC
But cannot come again to herD
Although I know she must be thereE
-
On other books of other menF
Far in the night year long I poreG
Hoping to find her face againF
Too fair a face to see no moreG
And 'twas so soft a name she boreG
-
Sometimes I think the book was YouthH
And the dead man that wrote it II
The face was Beauty the name TruthH
And thus with an unseeing eyeI
I pass the long sought image byI
