Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE FGFG HIHToo late though flowerets round me blow | A |
And clearing skies shine bright and fair | B |
Their genial warmth avails not now | C |
Thou art not here the beam to share | B |
- | |
Through many a dark and dreary day | D |
We journeyed on 'midst grief and gloom | E |
And now at length the cheering ray | D |
Breaks forth it only gilds thy tomb | E |
- | |
Our days of hope and youth are past | F |
Our short lived joys for ever flown | G |
And now when Fortune smiles at last | F |
She finds me cheerless chilled alone | G |
- | |
Ah no too late the boon is given | H |
Alike the frowns and smiles of Fate | I |
The broken heart by sorrow riv'n | H |
But murmurs now 'Too late Too late ' | - |
