To Ellen Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CCCC CDCE

And Ellen when the graybeard yearsA
Have brought us to life's evening hourB
And all the crowded Past appearsA
A tiny scene of sun and showerB
-
Then if I read the page arightC
Where Hope the soothsayer reads our lotC
Thyself shalt own the page was brightC
Well that we loved woe had we notC
-
When Mirth is dumb and Flattery's fledC
And mute thy music's dearest toneD
When all but Love itself is deadC
And all but deathless Reason goneE
