Rhyme Scheme: ABAC ADAD EDED FGFF HDHD IEIE EFEF JDJD KAL

The green grass is bowingA
The morning wind is in itB
'T is a tune worth thy knowingA
Though it change every minuteC
-
'T is a tune of the SpringA
Every year plays it overD
To the robin on the wingA
And to the pausing loverD
-
O'er ten thousand thousand acresE
Goes light the nimble zephyrD
The Flowers tiny sect of ShakersE
Worship him everD
-
Hark to the winning soundF
They summon thee dearestG
Saying 'We have dressed for thee the groundF
Nor yet thou appearestF
-
'O hasten ' 't is our timeH
Ere yet the red SummerD
Scorch our delicate primeH
Loved of bee the tawny hummerD
-
'O pride of thy raceI
Sad in sooth it were to oursE
If our brief tribe miss thy faceI
We poor New England flowersE
-
'Fairest choose the fairest membersE
Of our lithe societyF
June's glories and September'sE
Show our love and pietyF
-
'Thou shalt command us allJ
April's cowslip summer's cloverD
To the gentian in the fallJ
Blue eyed pet of blue eyed loverD
-
'O come then quickly comeK
We are budding we are blowingA
And the wind that we perfumeL
Sings a tune that's worth the knowing '-
