To Say Before Going To Sleep Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGH IJKAL EMN

I would like to sing someone to sleepA
have someone to sit by and be withB
I would like to cradle you and softly singC
be your companion while you sleep or wakeD
I would like to be the only personE
in the house who knew the night outside was coldF
And would like to listen to youG
and outside to the world and to the woodsH
-
The clocks are striking calling to each otherI
and one can see right to the edge of timeJ
Outside the house a strange man is afootK
and a strange dog barks wakened from his sleepA
Beyond that there is silenceL
-
My eyes rest upon your face wide openE
and they hold you gently letting you goM
when something in the dark begins to moveN
