The Last Supper Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGH IJKELMD N O

They are assembled astonished and disturbedA
round him who like a sage resolved his fateB
and now leaves those to whom he most belongedC
leaving and passing by them like a strangerD
The loneliness of old comes over himE
which helped mature him for his deepest actsF
now will he once again walk through the olive groveG
and those who love him still will flee before his sightH
-
To this last supper he has summoned themI
and like a shot that scatters birds from treesJ
their hands draw back from reaching for the loavesK
upon his word they fly across to himE
they flutter frightened round the supper tableL
searching for an escape But he is presentM
everywhere like an all pervading twilight hourD
