The Grown-up Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCB DEFDGDH IJDK L

All this stood upon her and was the worldA
and stood upon her with all its fear and graceB
as trees stand growing straight up imagelessB
yet wholly image like the Ark of GodC
and solemn as if imposed upon a raceB
-
As she endured it all bore up underD
the swift as flight the fleeting the far goneE
the inconceivably vast the still to learnF
serenely as a woman carrying waterD
moves with a full jug Till in the midst of playG
transfiguring and preparing for the futureD
the first white veil descended gliding softlyH
-
over her opened face almost opaque thereI
never to be lifted off again and somehowJ
giving to all her questions just one answerD
In you who were a child once in youK
