Childhood Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGH IJKJ LMNOPI

It would be good to give much thought beforeA
you try to find words for something so lostB
for those long childhood afternoons you knewC
that vanished so completely and whyD
-
We're still reminded sometimes by a rainE
but we can no longer say what it meansF
life was never again so filled with meetingG
with reunion and with passing onH
-
as back then when nothing happened to usI
except what happens to things and creaturesJ
we lived their world as something humanK
and became filled to the brim with figuresJ
-
And became as lonely as a sheperdL
and as overburdened by vast distancesM
and summoned and stirred as from far awayN
and slowly like a long new threadO
introduced into that picture sequenceP
where now having to go on bewilders usI
