The Gardener Lxxix: I Often Wonder Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEEFGHIAJKLEMANGO

I often wonder where lie hiddenA
the boundaries of recognition betweenB
man and the beast whose heart knowsC
no spoken languageD
Through what primal paradise in aE
remote morning of creation ran theE
simple path by which their heartsF
visited each otherG
Those marks of their constant treadH
have not been effaced though theirI
kinship has been long forgottenA
Yet suddenly in some wordlessJ
music the dim memory wakes upK
and the beast gazes into the man'sL
face with a tender trust and theE
man looks down into its eyes withM
amused affectionA
It seems that the two friends meetN
masked and vaguely know each otherG
through the disguiseO
