The Gardener Lxiv: I Spent My Day Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHHIGGJHAKHLMN COPGHHQRSCT

I spent my day on the scorchingA
hot dust of the roadB
Now in the cool of the evening IC
knock at the door of the inn It isD
deserted and in ruinsE
A grim ashath tree spreads itsF
hungry clutching roots through theG
gaping fissures of the wallsH
Days have been when wayfarersH
came here to wash their weary feetI
They spread their mats in theG
courtyard in the dim light of theG
early moon and sat and talked ofJ
strange landsH
They woke refreshed in the morningA
when birds made them glad andK
friendly flowers nodded their headsH
at them from the waysideL
But no lighted lamp awaited meM
when I came hereN
The black smudges of smoke left byC
many a forgotten evening lamp stareO
like blind eyes from the wallP
Fireflies flit in the bush near theG
dried up pond and bamboo branchesH
fling their shadows on the grassH
grown pathQ
I am the guest of no one at the endR
of my dayS
The long night is before me and IC
am tiredT
